Softer and Stronger

Softer and Stronger

I can let my guard down today because I have faith in my ability to feel pain and come out of it. Each time I dip into my own inner depths, I come out with more of me, with another piece of understanding of my own inner world and what’s in it. As I develop the ability to tolerate the power of my own intense emotions without acting out and translate those emotions into words so that I can both reflect on them and share them with others, I build emotional strength, emotional intelligence and emotional sobriety. And I become softer and more accessible. My recovery is making me softer and stronger. Softer because I am willing to experience my real feelings, the ones beneath my brittle defenses; stronger because I am developing the ability to talk out rather than act out my emotions.
Inner strength allows me to feel my feelings
