Giving Myself Presents
I will take extra good care of myself today. Only I know what really, really pleases me. My ability to feel enjoyment, relies heavily on the many tiny ways I care for myself. If I skip over these, if I wear myself out unnecessarily, withhold tiny pleasures that would be just as easy to let myself have, I create a backlog of need. Then I want something big to make me feel better. But even when I get it, the pleasure doesn’t last. Today I will allow myself those quiet pleasures in my day that please me, knowing that when I nourish and care for myself in little ways, it has big reverberations inside of me. My good feelings about life and rest more on a thousand tiny moments that one or two big ones.
Life is in this moment; pleasure is in this moment
We are always getting ready to live but never living.
Ralph Waldo Emerson
