Wholeness

Wholeness

Today, I recognize my essential wholeness. While I see myself as deficient and look to others to complete me, I condemn myself to a life of reactivity. In this mode, I can only spend my days trying to bend myself into the shape that I feel will make me lovable to others; and if they love me, I will feel both momentarily full and terrified that the feeling will go away. I will see them as in charge of my feeling loved, and I will go about using massive control maneuvers and manipulations to keep my supply on tap. If they do not love me, I may feel belittled and furious at having compromised myself to no avail. The only solution is to seek wholeness within.
