Becoming Real

Becoming Real

All I need to be today is who I am. Recovery is a process of facing and removing those obstacles that are in the way of my becoming more of me. It has been my willingness to risk and trust that my Higher Power will hold me that has brought me to life again, that has turned the long and lonesome road back to myself into a spiritual challenge and adventure. I will live each day as it comes. I will allow my authentic self to emerge into the moment and manage my responses to life in an emotionally sober and conscious way using the tools of the program. I recognize today that I am more alive when I stop trying to be whatever it is that I think I should be in order to be OK. I am better off discovering and mining my own unique talents and working to bring them forward, than trying to imitate someone else’s talents. My job is to actualize the gifts that are in me.
I am open to life and all it holds.
“How many cares one loses when one decides not to be something but to be someone.
