Having Space In My Relationships
Today I can live with degrees of distance in my close relationships. Intimacy no longer means enmeshment to me. If I am not emotionally sitting on someone else’s lap, it doesn’t mean I am not getting along with them. That kind of super closeness has a claustrophobic feeling for me now. It worries me because I know that in order to separate and get
some breathing room we will have to push hard on one another and it will hurt. I am more comfortable with a little healthy space today. Space used to make me feel abandoned. I felt that if I allowed myself to have some distance, no one would let me in close again. But today I have come to appreciate the freedom it allows me. It is easier to keep those I love in my life when I let go than when I hang on.

I am comfortable with healthy space.
Those whom we can love, we can hate; to others we are indifferent.
