Passing On Pain

Passing On Pain

Today I recognize the futility of passing on old dysfunctional patterns. It is pointless to try to correct the present with methods that didn’t even work in the past. I really can change and recognizing my desire to control those near to me is the beginning of that change. Now I can see myself in action – I can actually feel myself begin to get anxious, then reach for control to bring my anxiety level down. It is a great relief to myself and those around me when I am willing to live with my own powerlessness over their lives. Today when I feel an urge to control, it will be a signal to me to focus on what is going on in my own self and life.
I recognize the futility of trying to control others.
Grace is given of God but knowledge is bought in the market.
